QIANLONG FOUR-CHARACTER ENGRAVED MARK WITHIN A SQUARE AND OF THE PERIOD (1736-1795)
Of high-shouldered form with short neck and rounded rim, the sides tapering towards the thick foot enclosing the recessed base, the glass of rich turquoise blue tone with some transparent swirls

Lot Essay

The opaque, turquoise color and stout shape of the present vase appear to be rare. However, a larger (20 cm.) glass vase in this color, although of more bulbous shape, is illustrated in Luster of Autumn Water: Glass of the Imperial Qing Workshop, Beijing, 2005, pp. 316-17, no. 141.
