Modeled as an iron-red stem of lingzhi bearing nine ripe peaches of various sizes set amidst green and turquoise leaves, with a gilt-highlighted iron-red bat alighted on one peach

Lot Essay

A slightly smaller (26.5 cm.) ruyi scepter of nearly identical shape, although covered in a pure white glaze and left undecorated, is illustrated in Auspicious Ju-I Scepters of China, National Palace Museum, Taipei, 1995, p. 143, no. 70.
