The strongly recurved tapering watered steel blade with reinforced tip and pronounced medial ridge, the plain ivory-faced hilt of typical form, the knuckleguard cast on the exterior with dragon head finial, the sheath covered with red gold-embroidered silk and with silver chape decorated in repoussé with floral meander terminating in curved bird's head finial
14 3/4 in. long (37.5cm)

Specialist note

This khanjarli is a very fine example of a type which was produced in Vizianagaram, a town famous for its arms manufacturing.
