THE BLADE IRAN, 18TH/19TH CENTURY, MOUNTS BAHRAIN AH 1373/1953-4 AD
With curving single-edged watered steel blade, the hilt of typical shamshir form worked in gold with applied wire-work roundels, the end with repoussé scrolls and floral motifs, the leather-covered wooden sheath with upper gold mount with palm-tree design surrounded by zig-zag borders, name of Salman ibn Hamad al-Khalifa engraved below and date of AH 1373, the chape and suspension rings covered with gold sheet engraved with simple palm tree medallions, blade with very light corrosion
