Lot Essay

This work appears to be usually attributed to Imam Jalal al-Din al-Suyuti (d. 1505 AD). According to Haji Khalifa's Kashf al-Zunun, this attribution is incorrect and the work should be attributed to al-Shaykh Mahdi bin 'Ali bin Ibrahim al-Subayri al-Yamani al-Muhaji al-Maqqarri. He has also seen a manuscript of the same book attributed to Shaykh al-Attiba' Jamal al-Din Muhammad bin Ibrahim al-Mahdawi al-Yamani.
