AN EGYPTIAN GESSO-PAINTED WOOD MODEL OF A GRANARY SCENE
MIDDLE KINGDOM, DYNASTY XII, CIRCA 1991-1797 B.C.
Comprising a four-winged storehouse with hinged entrance door on one side, inside attached to holes in the floor, a standing and seated figure in the lower chamber, a porter carrying a sack ascending steps to a raised platform on which a scribe is seated with a rectangular tally board, to his right a scribal palette on nearby table, a bin in the opposite corner.
