Lot Essay

The term Genucilia derives from an example, now in Providence, inscribed with the name of the plate's owner, P. Genucilia. These Genucilia plates were often dedicated at sanctuaries.
For the Genucilia group cf. I. Jucker, Italy of the Etruscans, Mainz, 1991, pp. 247-248, nos. 316-319 and G. Camporeale, The Etruscans Outside Etruria, Getty Museum, 2004, p 271.
