Lot Essay

Robert Hunter studied at the Liverpool School of Art 1946-1950, and was Head of the Art Department at Trinity College, Camarthen from 1952- c.1985. In 1956 he was a founder member, along with Eric Malthouse, of the Welsh Art 56 Group. During the 1950's and early 60's, he exhibited in London with the Leicester Gallery and Redfern Gallery among others. His work is in the collections of the National Museum of Wales, the Contemporary Art Society of Wales, the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery, Swansea, as well as private collections in the USA, France and Germany.
