Lot Essay

While elements in the scagliola top of this table can be found in multiple other examples one, in particular, relates closely. The table, in the Bianchi Collection of Florence, has the same somewhat charmingly chaotic scenes of frolicking putti (see A. M. Massinelli, Scagliola: l'arte della pietra di luna, Rome, 1993, pp. 122-123).
