PRISTINE BORDEAUX
From this United States-based consignor comes a selection of pristine Bordeaux, all bought on release and owned only by the current consignor. All wines were stored is custom-built temperature and humidity controlled cellar until removed by Christie's specialists for this sale. The consignor was meticulous about his storage and purchases, and even saved the receipts from the majority of his en primeur-bought wines. The collection highlights many great wines, including 1989 Latour, Haut-Brion, Lafite and Mouton. Don't miss out on the very rare 1989 Haut Brion Blanc, offered here in the original wood.
Château Lafite-Rothschild--Vintage 1982
Pauillac, 1er cru classé. Château-bottled
Levels: eleven bottom neck or better, one top shoulder; tissue wrapped prior to Christies inspection
In original wooden case
Tasting Note: "Eventually a triumph. The wine is big and smoky, with ripe fruit, a rather burnt nose, and firm, grippy tannins. With time a softer, riper plum and fig fruit character arose and the smoky, burnt aromas took a backseat, along with cedary lead pencil notes. On the palate in time the tannins softened as well, providing a lush, rich, velvety drink just in time for the steak." CC, December 2009
