Carved with a fierce bixie poised on his muscular haunches, with clearly articulated features and fur, on top of a rectangular base with carved seal face with three characters reading, xi mi zhai, the stone of an attractive warm golden honey tone and minor darker inclusions

Lot Essay

A very similarly carved tianhuang seal carved by Yang Yuxuan was sold in our Hong Kong rooms, 3 November, 1998, lot 1076.
Also another similar seal with bixie can be seen in the collection of Chen Guo He, a renowned collector and connoisseur of Tianhuang carvings.
