The box of square form and the cover delicately enamelled in the famille rose palette, depicting a pair of seated scholars reading in a terraced garden enclosed within a shaped cartouche on a yellow ground with red scrolling foliage, the sides with further smaller cartouches depicting scenes of daily life including figures fishing and farming, the underside with the reign mark on a turquoise ground
