Lot Essay

Launched in 1921, the Tank Cintrée model was a variant of the original Tank. The curved shape was derived from the firm's tonneau series, made to fit around a wrist, the widened sides with the sharp edges and screwed lugs from the 1919 Tank. The elongated dial was visually enlarged and softened by the rounded chapter ring. The model was available in three different sizes.

The present watch is from the largest version, the "Grande Tank Cintrée" series, fitted with a cal. 9''' movement.

For a similar watch and description of the "Tank Cintrée" model see Cartier - The Tank Watch by Franco Cologni, p. 192.
