MARK OF EDWARD & JOHN BARNARD, LONDON, 1840
On a shaped triangular base, with scrolling acanthus feet, with three classical female figures supporting a shallow dish and a cut-glass bowl, the base engraved on one side with a coat-of-arms and on another with an inscription, marked on base and three three nuts and on each figure, the shallow dish and ring support apparently unmarked

The inscription reads: "Presented by his friends together with a portrait of himself To George Lees Underhill Esq., J.P., as a slight mark of their respect and esteem and in appreciation of the great services he has rendered to his native town, also as a token of the high opinion entertained of his commercial integrity and general benevolence, August 14 1880"
