Lot Essay

The arms are those of George III

Engraver Walter Jackson engraved much of the silver supplied by Royal Goldsmiths Rundell, Bridge and Rundell to the King and to the Prince Regent. An album of pulls of arms and crests engraved by Jackson and his successor, Samuel Jackson, is at the Victoria and Albert Museum. A similar engraved Royal arms in the Walter Jackson album is illustrated in Charles Oman, English Engraved Silver, 1978, fig. 142, p. 125.
