Lot Essay

The dedication to Chaoran, Ruiwen denotes Huang Junbi's good friends Mr. and Mrs. Li Chaoren, whom he befriended before the war. Li was an educator and was interested in paintings and calligraphy, and was friends with artists such as Huang Junbi, Zhao Shao'ang, Xu Beihong and Zhang Daqian, often receiving gifts from them in the form of paintings.
