Château Latour--Vintage 1993
Pauillac, 1er cru classé. Château-bottled
VINTAGE NOTE: 1993 was a very fine year that was undone to a degree by rain. The year started well, and although the springtime was very wet, flowering took place under good conditions. June, July and August were all warm (hot at times) and dry. It was on September 5th just before the harvest that heavy rainstorms began to fall, diluting some wines. The harvest was carried out under rainy conditions, and those who were very careful at reception were able to produce admirable wines.
"A terrific wine for the vintage, the 1993 Latour reveals an opaque purple color, a backward, cedar, black walnut, cassis, and earth-scented nose, medium to full body, gorgeously rich, concentrated fruit, moderately high tannin (but no astringency), and a sweet, long, powerful finish. This wine may prove to merit an even higher rating." 90 points, Robert Parker, 1998
