VINTAGE 2009
FUTURE CLASSIC
The first decade of the 21st century has been very kind to wine producers in Bordeaux and there have been a string of vintages both good and great.
Arguably, none is finer than 2009. This has produced wines characterized by both exceptional ripeness and impressive balance: none of the ripe, character of the 2003, with tannins that are riper and suppler than either 2000 or 2005, the vintage continues to astound with its depth of quality. These are classic wines that will be the reference standard for years to come: if you are too young to have bought the wines of 1982 on release, now is your chance to buy something of comparable quality.
Les Forts de Latour--Vintage 2009
Pauillac. Château-bottled
Lots 386-391: Delivery on these lots will be arranged following bottling in Fall 2011.
"2009 Les Forts de Latour is much better than one would expect for a second wine, even one of this breed. The nose shows a lushly ripe plum and blackberry fruit with a hint of fresh leather on the nose. On the palate the wine has moderate body and balanced structure but a very nice intensity." Charles Curtis M. W., March 2010
"Perhaps the finest example ever made (including the extraordinary 1982) of Les Forts de Latour. An opaque purple color is followed by notes of black fruits, crushed rocks, spring flowers, and hints of blackberries and smoke. Prodigiously rich and thick with an amazingly long finish of 50 seconds, this astonishing second wine will undoubtedly put on weight before bottling, and should last for 25-30 years." 93-95 points, Robert Parker, April 2010
