Château Margaux--Vintage 1870
Margaux, 1er cru classé
Château capsule. Re-corked 1950's. Level into neck
Tasting note: Not tasted recently. Three notes in 1987 A very good, fragrant yet powerful English bottling, the wax seal impressed Monkhouse and Anderson 1st Growth Claret, served alongside a somewhat decayed and acidic bottle recorked at the château. The last, with a Sèze Fils Frères label had not survived its mid-shoulder ullage. Rich, but oxidised. Last noted at the château, Aug 1987. At best **** M.B.
