Château Margaux--Vintage 1940
Margaux, 1er cru classé
Slightly corroded capsule. Very badly bin-soiled and faded label. Level upper-shoulder
Tasting note: Only tasted in half-bottles, the last pair at Manfred Wagner's Margaux tasting. Both with top-shoulder levels: palish, orange-tinged colour; scents of mocha and toffee. Bitter on the palate: sweet, attractive, very flavoury despite slight acid edge. Holding well. Last tasted in Zurich Jan 1997 *** M.B.
