AN EXTREMELY RARE CASE OF MAGNUMS OF RICHEBOURG DRC 1952
Lying in Weybridge, Surrey (EHD)
Richebourg Grand Cru--Vintage 1952
Domaine de la Romanée-Conti
In original wooden case. Lebègue-Bichot neck slip labels. Slightly corroded capsules. Slightly bin-soiled labels. Levels: one 4.5cms, one 6cms, one 6.5cms, one 8cms, two 9cms below corks
Tasting note: First tasted in 1967: austerely rich. Next in 1979, still deeply coloured; well developed nose; a deep, velvety wine with rounded flesh over firm bones. Most recently, a magnum produced by Aubert de Villaine, after the St-Vivant vertical. Autumnal colour and bouquet, the latter low-keyed at first but opening up dizzily with many facets; on the palate sweet, firm, excellent flavour, balance, length and finish. Showing its age yet full of life.At the Domaine, Oct 2001 ***** M.B.
