Lot Essay

In Snell's paintings, the never-ending cycle of nature runs up against the legacy of the industrial revolution. These are the landscapes of today, where natural beauty is frequently compromised by an armature of gas containers, or the makeshift roof of an aircraft hangar. Her abandoned landscapes, while disquieting, have an ominous beauty.
