KANGXI SIX-CHARACTER MARK WITHIN DOUBLE-CIRCLES AND OF THE PERIOD (1662-1722)
The delicately potted bowl with deep sides decorated around the exterior with three crane medallions in soft underglaze-blue and surrounded by yellow and iron-red blossoms, each supported on leafy sprigs bearing an iron-red flower and bud, the interior with a central medallion enclosing a single floral spray, all within blue borders

Lot Essay

Kangxi bowls of this design are very rare. One published bowl of this pattern but with Yongzheng reign mark was included in the Exhibition of Chinese Art, Messrs. C. T. Loo, New York, 1941, Catalogue no. 729. Another Yongzheng example was sold at Christie's Hong Kong,
28 November 2006, lot 1550.
