2 volumes, 8o (235 x 147 mm). Engraved portrait frontispiece and lithographed folding map by J. Netherclift and Son with Simpson's route hand-colored in red. Diagram in the text. 24-page publisher's catalogue bound in at the end of vol. I. Original cloth, covers blocked in blind with an Islamic design, spine blocked in blind and lettered in gilt (lightly rubbed and staining, fading to spines). Provenance: John Halkett, (1768-1852) governor of Bermuda (presentation inscription on verso of front free endpaper and autograph letter signed by the author to Halkett, loosely inserted in v.1 [see below]).
