Twins Tim and Greg Hildebrandt (b. 1939) studied at the Meinzingers School of Art. Their unorthodox approach involves each twin starting at one end of the painting and meeting in the middle. This poster was primarily designed for use in the United Kingdom. However, following the unexpected success of Star Wars, it was felt that a poster featuring clear and recognisable portraits of the principal actors would now be more appropriate. An alternative design was decided upon and, consequently, very few of these initial Hildebrandt-designed posters were printed.
