Tiles from the J.W.N. van Achterbergh collection (lots 56-69)
Ceramic Splendour
J.W.N. van Achterbergh (1928-2009) was born as the scion of a well-to-do family of avid collectors.
Inheriting a passion for ceramics from his father, who assembled the largest collection of European and Middle Eastern tiles in the Netherlands, Achterbergh developed his own niche, accumulating contemporary 'unica' ceramics. His drive to collect the best ceramic pieces, his technical insight and his timeless feeling for quality led him to cultivate one of the most important ceramic collections in the Netherlands. This sale, which contains a spectacular offering of 16th century Spanish tiles from his collection, presents a remarkable opportunity for ceramic connoisseurs to acquire works from this extensive and beautifully curated collection.
