The case of typical form, the trunk door and plinth with fruitwood line inlay, ormolu lenticle mount depicting father time, the hood surmounted by giltwood figural finials. The polychrome decorated brass dial with a silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring above with matted centre with subsidiary seconds ring, date aperture, sectors for month and day of week and moonphase, above a painted automaton scene, the recessed panel set into a painted baldachyn and depicting the Apocryph story of Judith and Holofernes above an Amsterdam city scene along the lower edge, the brass movement with anchor escapement and Dutch strike on two bells
