Painted in dark orange, deep red and black on a pale orange ground centred by an owl which might represent the name of the owner or the painter of the plate, the rim surrounded by repeat glyphs which are a combination of the yu tz'ib glyph ("his writing") which usually refers to the person who commissioned the painting and the date 13 Muluc
