A CHINESE SILVER-MOUNTED SABRE IN THE EUROPEAN MANNER
LATE 19TH CENTURY
With slightly curved single-edged fullered blade with incised decoration at the forte, stirrup hilt comprising a copper guard with applied silver decoration against a punched outer surface, silver collar and chased grip-strap, plain dark horn grip, and carved dark horn lion's head pommel with cast and chased silver mane, in original wooden scabbard inlaid with mother of pearl flowering foliage inhabited by butterflies, silver mounts decorated with chased foliage, and two small rings for suspension
