Details
La Mondotte is one of the most highly regarded of the newer St.-Emilion wines. Produced by Count Stephan von Neipperg who uses fruit from parcels located near Troplong Mondotte at a perfect altitude of 150 meters. The slope of the vineyard is inclined toward the south, and the thin soil promotes ripe fruit. Great pains are taken here to ensure a ripe and healthy harvest, with crews passing through the vineyard three times to remove bunches that were not ripening well.
Château la Mondotte --Vintage 2005
Saint-Emilion
All lots in six-bottle original wooden case
"The inky/purple-tinged 2005 reveals gorgeous aromas of roasted herbs, incense, Asian spices, graphite, coffee, and oodles of blackberry and black cherry fruit. The limestone soils provide a freshness and distinctive minerality. This powerful, multidimensional, full-bodied, rich St.-Emilion exhibits a hint of unctuosity." RP, April 2008
