Edo period (18th-19th century), signed Koma Kansai saku
Decorated in gold, silver, red and black hiramaki-e, takamaki-e, togidashi, kirikane and mother-of-pearl inlay with a sleeping courtesan, a mitate-e (allusive picture) of Rosei's Dream, the reverse with a scene from her dream of the three lucky things: eagle, Mount Fuji and eggplant, all against a kinji ground, the interiors nashiji; accompanied by a manju netsuke carved in sunken relief with a horn bowl fitted with an ivory plate decorated with a woman and a festooned branch heavy with fruit in carved and inlaid mixed-metal details, reticulated horn bead ojime
