Meiji period (early 20th century), with signature Zeshin
The tray of rounded rectangular form and decorated on the interior surface in gold, brown and silver takamaki-e with a well worn kozuka, branch of plum blossoms and a pine needle; the ground of subtly textured lacquer simulating the aged patina of metal, signature on the blade
11 x 16 1/8 x 1 1/8in. (28 x 41 x 2.9cm.)
