COMPREHENSIVELY GERMAN, EARLY 16TH CENTURY AND LATER
Of bright steel, comprising a close-helmet of Maximilian type, with one-piece fluted skull with low roped comb and pierced with numerous holes for lining-points, visor of so-called 'sparrow's beak' form with stepped vision-slit pierced with circular breaths, bevor pivoted at the same points and shaped to the chin, and later gorget of two plates front and back with turned roped main edges, the helmet riveted to an almain-collar of a main-plate and three neck-plates at the front and rear, hinged on the left, short spaulders of four plates each, and later spring-loaded studs for the arm-defenses, the arm-defenses of Maximilian type each with fluted spaulders joined to the upper canno n by a turning joint, couter, and enclosed lower cannon of two-plates, later miten guantlets, curiass comprising back-plate shaped to the shoulders and with culet of two plates, the bottom plate flanged, turned edges throughout, and shot-proof breast-plate with low medial ridge, prominent turn at the neck, and two moveable lower plates, the bottom plate forming a point, and later skirt and tassets each of six plates, on stand
