The inscription reads 'Presented by the Farm Tenants of the Cowdray Estate to Viscount Cowdray on the occasion of his Marriage July 1939'

Presented to Weetman John Churchill Spencer Pearson, 3rd Viscount Cowdray (1910-1995) on the occassion of his marriage on 19 July 1939 to Lady Anne Pamela Bridgeman, daughter of the 5th Earl of Bradford by the Farm tenants of the Cowdray estate.
