A gilt bronze figure of Tara
Tibet, 16th Century
Seated in dhyanasana over a double-lotus base with beaded rim with the hands in vitarkamudra and clutching lotus stems blossoming at the shoulders, clad in a tight-fitting dhoti and adorned with beaded jewelry and pendant earrings, the face with downcast eyes surmounted by a tiara inlaid with hardstones, the hair pulled into a high chignon, the base with an inscription and sealed with a double-vajra
