Le marbre antique du Gladiateur Borghèse est l'une des sculptures les plus célèbres de l'antiquité classique et fut mentionnée pour la première fois en 1611 dans les collections du cardinal Borghèse. L'admiration que suscita ce sujet fut continue au cours des siècles et il fut reproduit à plus ou moins grande échelle par les artistes les plus accomplis.
