Georg Jensen Søovsmedie A/S has always been renowned for quality and for the originality of its designs. Georg's designs reflect the Arts & Crafts and Art Nouveau movements that he was part of, but he and the company have always been open to, and employed, some of best 20th Century artist craftsmen and women of their respective generations: Johan Rohde (1856-1935), Harald Nielsen (1892-1977), Arno Malinowski (1899-1976), Sigvaard Bernadotte (1907-2002), Henning Koppel (1918 - 1981), Nana Ditzel (1923-2005) and Vivianna Torun Bulow-Hube (1927-2004), to name but a few. On these pages we have one of his early and most beautiful designs (Lot 275), the 'Blossom' tea & coffee set with its distinctive bud finials and ivory handles (designed in 1905) that shows the sculptor and silversmith working in perfect harmony. We also show Harald Nielsens striking Art Deco 'Pyramid' pattern, both as hollow ware (Lot 276) and as cutlery (Lot 277) and Johan Rhode's best-selling 'Acorn' pattern (Lot 280).
