CIRCA 1820-1830

This beautifully crafted and neatly fitted miniature dressing-table nécessaire is typical of early 19th century Parisian manufactures sold in the fashionable shops of the Palais Royal, just above the Louvre. The same attractive combination of engraved mother-of-pearl set within carefully tooled ormolu borders is characteristic of this fine production. A similar ormolu-mounted mother-of-pearl nécessaire was sold at Christie's London, 10 July 2008, lot 1 (£6,250 with premium).
