A RARE PAIR OF CARVED ZITAN STOOLS
18TH/19TH CENTURY
Each with top set within the quatrelobed rectangular frame above a narrow waist carved in relief with circular and elongated oval bosses, the shaped aprons carved with stylized ruyi head and scroll-form beading framing further bosses and the design continuing onto the thick inward-curved legs which terminate in hoof feet and are set into the base stretcher

Acquired in Canton, China, circa 1935-1949, by the father of the present owners.
