A FINE AND RARE FAMILLE VERTE 'PHOENIX-TAIL' VASE
KANGXI PERIOD (1662-1772)
The baluster body finely painted with rectangular panels of a scholar riding a donkey and a mythical beast alternating with quatrefoil panels of butterfiles above smaller panels of antiques and bamboo, the trumpet-shaped neck with two rectangular panels, one enclosing a bird perched on a flowering mallow stem beside orange leaves, the other with a fisherman in a mountainous stream, all within decorative borders and reserved on a pale iron-red ground with white stylized scrolls and scrolling stems of lotus and sagittaria leaves
