A BYZANTINE MARBLE MORTAR
CIRCA 5TH-7TH CENTURY A.D.
Conical in form, with two elongated protrusions on either side, carved with a central cross between scrolls and leaves, the reverse with similar leaves, the underside of foot with carved geometric pattern, with two bronze loops attached on the rim with suspension chain and hanging hook
