The case of typical form, the arched moulded hood with fretwork panels, flanked by columns and surmounted by three giltwood figural finials, the trunk door with floral lenticle mount. The brass dial plate with aperture to the arch showing ships, Mercury and Venus rocking against a town view of Amsterdam, foliate spandrels to silvered chapter ring signed JAN de GOEDE. En ZOON. AMSTELDAM., matted centre with ringed winding holes, with subsidiary seconds ring above an engraved month, day and date aperture and painted moonphase, silvered alarm setting disc, four pillar movement with anchor escapement, Dutch strike on two bells above; two large and two small weights, pendulum, winding key and doorkey
