Lot Essay

Le Corbusier (1887-1965) collaborated with Charlotte Perriand (1903-1999) and his cousin Pierre Jeanneret (1896-1967) in the design of this chair. The partnership was highly significant, both in terms of the cultural weight of their achievements and their professional successes. With its frame and sumptuous cushions, the 'Grand Confort' projects luxury and epitomizes in the International Style. The LC2 demonstrates the designers' interest in the structural possibilities of tubular steel.
