Lot Essay

Several of the pieces from lots 306-312 were originally part of the celebrated collection of paintings, furniture, books, objects of vertu and porcelain formed by M. René Fribourg and Mme. Lucienne Fribourg. Much of the collections were sold upon M. Fribourg's death in a series of sales at Sotheby's London between May and October of 1963 and the remainder of the collection was dispersed after Mme. Fribourg's death in New York.
