The square-shaped base with four paw, acanthus and fluted feet, the reeded frame enclosing four cut-glass bottles with stoppers, the frame surmounted by a tapering stem with cast gadrooned handle, engraved underneath with the inscription Bought in the year 1786 by Paul FitzSimons, Charleston, S.C. Inherited through five direct generations by Paul FitzSimons Newport R.I. 1934, marked on base, frame, and three nuts
