The caption notes: 'Aart Klein made this picture of an American war cemetery in Margraten for the Netherlands newspaper Agemeen Handelsblad. He was instructed to achieve a composition which would take up a full page, and although I have trimmed the picture to suit the requirements of this book, the problem of the original composition is apparent. To catch the low lighting in exactly this way, Klein had to select the right viewpoint and wait for the appropriate time. The result fully justified the trouble he had taken.'
