SCREAMING EAGLE

Screaming Eagle is likely Napa Valley's smallest winery. The wine made from one acre of vines in a small stone winery in Oakville has captured the hearts and certainly the wallets of wine collectors across the globe. Available only through the mailing list, the elusive, yet legendary Screaming Eagle reaches extraordinary prices based on its cult following. The vines are Cabernet Sauvignon primarily, but Merlot and Cabernet Franc are blended in small amounts. Winemaker Heidi Barrett uses small, half-ton fermenters, plenty of punching down with no fining or filtration to make a concentrated, yet pure version of the fruit. The wine is aged in 65 new French oak barrels in a small cave for almost two years.
