Carved in openwork to depict a scholar and three boys in a garden scene, the background with ornamental rocks, the foreground with a stylised trunk tree and chrysanthemum branches, all leaves and flowers finely detailed and picked out in brown, the central scene depicting with the scholar and a boy, another boy climbing up a rock and the third holding a vase, the mottled greyish stone suffused with brown russet
