A pair of Wedgwood & Bentley white terracotta stoneware 'porphyry' oviform vases and covers
with scroll handles, the bodies appied with unglazed oval medallions of classical figures at persuits, one inscribed LAVRMED, on a sponged blue/grey ground, the short necks and spreading circular stems similarly sponged, the feet reserved with borders of stiff leaves, the domed covers with ball and foliate finials, on stepped square black basalt bases, impressed WEDGWOOD & BENTLET ETRURIA -- 9¾in. (25cm.) high, circa 1775
