Lot Essay

Number 3 in Mêne's catalogue and entitled 'Picador á Cheval', the present model first appeared in wax at the 1876 Salon and in bronze the following year. The picador is shown nobly parading around the bull-ring with a lady's fan and flowers thrown at the feet of his mount.
